Over the past three months, the European Court of Human Rights in Strasbourg has reviewed
several significant cases:

  • Bulgaria’s Case – In July, the court published a ruling in which it found Bulgaria guilty of failing to investigate cases of excessive use of force by the police. The cases were related to violations of citizens’ rights during incidents of police violence.
  • France’s Terrorism Case – In August, the Strasbourg Court sentenced a security officer responsible for the 2018 Christmas market terrorist attack to 30 years in prison. This case gained significant public attention, as it concerned public safety issues and the state’s obligation to protect human rights.
  • Cases Related to Russia – The court issued several rulings concerning Russia. These decisions addressed human rights violations committed by the state, including restrictions on press freedom and the suppression of political activists’ rights.

This period has demonstrated that the court continues to actively uphold human rights protection
principles and safeguard international law.
